Who Am I? is a six-lesson KS3 Drama scheme that supports students to find their voice and communicate something meaningful about who they are.
 
Students work towards creating, rehearsing and performing an individual 60–90-second speech. Along the way, they explore how speakers capture an audience’s attention, use an object or small moment to uncover a bigger meaning, structure their ideas and make purposeful vocal and physical choices.
 
The unit places clear boundaries around personal disclosure. Students choose what they feel comfortable sharing and may adapt or invent details. The focus is on communication and performance skills, not how personal a student’s story is.
 
Across the unit, students will:
Experiment with engaging speech openings.
Explore extracts from inspiring young speakers.
Develop an object or small moment into a meaningful story.
Use freeze-frames and LEFT to make an important moment visible.
Move from description to reflection.
Structure a speech using Hook, Develop, Reveal and Close.
Develop voice, pace, pause, emphasis, eye contact and gesture.
Rehearse, perform, give supportive feedback and reflect on their progress.
 
This flexible scheme is ideal for introducing Drama at Key Stage 3 and developing confidence, communication, oracy and performance skills. Activities can be adapted for either a Drama studio or a classroom.
