Set & Costume Designer
Richard Cooper is a professional Set and Costume designer based in the UK graduating Nottingham Trent University with First class honors in 2012. His experience spans the UK, Europe and America as a Theatre Set and Costume Designer, Awards Ceremonies/Corporate events/Exhibition Designer, Scenic Production Manager and Technical Director.
Practical experience in Scenic Carpentry , Scenic Painting, Lighting Design and Prop Making provide a technical base for his designs. Key knowledge of materials, construction technology and experience within the different departments of theatre provide grounded approach to each design. He uses white card model making and 3d rendering (Rhino and Vray) to visualise designs, create working drawings and site drawings for fit ups. His technical skills branch into AutoCAD and Adobe Suite such as Illustrator and Photoshop.
Richard is currently designing, "Ragtime", "Kiss me Kate" and "Henrietta", with the National Youth Music Theatre whilst being the Technical Director and Designer for Long Lake Camp for the Arts in New York and a freelance Designer and Theatre Maker, assisting Libby Watson and Pamela Howard as well as a Set and Graphic Design / Scenic Production Manager for Eclipse Global.
